Salary; £25,000 – £35,000 per annum dependent on experience

Hours; Permanent dayshift Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 5:00pm

Location; Peterlee, County Durham

Commutable From; Peterlee, County Durham, Washington, Sunderland, South Shields.

We are currently recruiting for our Peterlee based client, this is a permanent full time position. Our client are world leaders in the design and manufacture of exhaust gas control systems for on/off highway and marine diesel engine applications.  Due to the continued growth of the business, they are looking to employ an experienced Lean Engineer who will have a good technical background with experience of lean training and Six Sigma.

The Role;

  • Establish local Knorr-Bremse Production System (KPS) roadmap in agreement with plant management, Centres of Competence (CoCs) and Central Truck Industrial Engineering (T/IE) and continuously follow up and redirect as well as break down into target objectives for the local plant management.
  • Identify and prioritise improvement projects with the plant management, based on KPS roadmap, value stream analysis and further business needs
  • Coordinate and update KPS projects in strong focus and KPS-KPIs in KPS tool and reports
  • Coordinate and support KPS audits on plant
  • Coordinate improvement activities with/between CoCs and set up cross plant projects
  • Drive and monitor the progress of the projects using value stream map and scorecards
  • Identify related training needs and coordinate local training approach
  • Provide update information on skilled resources of the plant to central T/IE and top management
  • Coach colleagues in the application of related methods and tools and take over local training as appropriate
  • Contribute to the worldwide KPS network and be the major contact for related communication
  • Train employees on the relevant tools and methods

Our Ideal Candidate;

  • Will have a technical diploma or degree with experience of lean training (advanced) and Six Sigma
  • Experienced in the automotive industry
  • Strong knowledge of lean tools and methods
  • Experience of lean implementation projects
  • Ideally have experience in leading project teams
  • Experienced in international environment and/or international projects
  • Competent IT skills especially in the use of MS Office, Visio and Minitab
  • Must have the ability to lead change
  • Ability to coach others
  • Possess networking skills
  • Ideally will have the ability to foster teamwork
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Overseas travel required
