Job Title: Design Engineer

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Monday – Thursday 07:30 am – 16:00 pm, Friday 07:30 am – 12:30 pm

Location: Derby


Our client, a global supplier to the aerospace, automotive and defence industry is seeking a Design Engineer to join their forward-thinking company working with the engineering and production teams to design moulds, jigs and fixtures for an array of composite components.

Our client manufactures patterns, composite moulds and, metallic press tooling for volume manufacture. Work will also involve occasional direct communication with customers to discuss tooling concepts, expectations and requirements.

The Role:

  • Strong working knowledge of Catia V5, with a minimum of 2 years of experience surfacing using the Generative Shape Design workbench
  • Strong understanding of carbon fibre production methods and underlying theory
  • Strong understanding of CNC techniques for tooling component production
  • Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly & inspection processes
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Understanding of document control requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 standards
  • Competent with MS Office applications

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Relevant qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Understanding and experience of design techniques and methodologies 
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of engineering fundamentals 
  • Knowledge of press tooling and PLM systems 
  • Catia V5 modules or equivalent experience 
  • Ability to prioritise and work on multiple projects 
  • Proficient in all Microsoft packages 
  • Previous experience of working in composites, automation and aerospace desirable, however not essential
