Job Title: Estimator

Salary: £25,000 to £29,000 per annum plus benefits

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, 08:00 am – 17:00 pm

Location: Leicester


Our client has built a reputation as a growing provider of ventilation and extract systems to a wide range of industries. They are now seeking an Estimator to join their team.

Situated in South Leicester they are centrally based in the UK and work on projects nationwide.

The Role:

  • Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents to understand the scope, requirements, and constraints of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to assess existing conditions, identify potential challenges, and gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
  • Analyse project components, including materials, equipment, labour, and overhead costs, to develop detailed estimates for system installation, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Utilise estimating software, databases, and historical data to calculate quantities, costs, and pricing for mechanical components and systems.
  • Generate quotes and pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors for mechanical materials, equipment, and services.
  • Prepare comprehensive and competitive proposals, bid documents, and cost breakdowns outlining the scope of work, pricing, terms, and conditions for mechanical systems.
  • Customise proposals to meet the specific needs and preferences of clients while ensuring profitability and competitiveness for the company.
  • Present estimates and proposals to clients, addressing questions, concerns, and modifications to secure contracts.
  • Work closely with other team members to ensure alignment between estimates, project plans, and client expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to clarify requirements, negotiate pricing, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical estimates into overall project plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in mechanical estimating, preferably in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, piping, and equipment would be useful
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
