Job Title: Process R&D Engineer

Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum plus excellent benefits

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, Days

Location: South Leicester


Our client has built a reputation as a growing designer and manufacturer of high-performance components, from prototype to volume production, for a variety of technology sectors. They are seeking a Process R&D Engineer to join their established team. Is this you?

This position’s prime responsibilities are for the development of new technologies, new materials systems, and new products. The position improves the efficiency and throughput of the existing equipment and processes and provides technical assessments of developing areas of application that might provide new business opportunities.

The Role:

  • Deliver business transformation through disruptive technology innovation. 
  • Review customer and market feedback to maximise the impact of development and innovation efforts. 
  • Develop technology and innovation roadmaps that are aligned with our customer’s existing and emerging needs. 
  • Ensure the site has access to all sources of manufacturing and process best practices so that we gain and sustain a competitive advantage over our competitors.
  • Assists the business development, sales, and marketing functions to maximise the competitiveness and responsiveness of our products and processes. 
  • Enable manufacturable results from development and innovation efforts. 
  • Leverage risks and opportunities- pursue and adopt new technologies and drive implementation across product lines
  • Participate in proposal development and champion estimates and technical statements of work whilst serving as a technical spokesperson. 
  • Serve as a key interface with customers and take their needs and requirements as inputs to create high-value solutions.
  • Implementation of optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods following product specifications and quality standards; recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and, controls; coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
  • Provide and share expert process knowledge and technical skills so that the teams can achieve consistent and sustained manufacturing efficiency and process improvement.
  • Project and display an engaging, empowering, and encouraging leadership style. Lead R&D with direction and vision, continually re-enforcing process standardisation in any form.  
  • Lead the production technicians with focus and consistency displaying a challenging and questioning approach to correct variation from standard. 
  • Develop focus and direction promoting a “one team, one vision” approach. 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Degree educated in a STEM subject.
  • Competent project management skills.
  • IT literate.
  • Ability to work with teams at all levels and lead change (Facilitate, lead, and motivate)
  • Able to work well to own initiative.
  • Can commit to occasional international travel.
